To kick off the festive season, we offer you a fig jam with... blackcurrant pepper. All French, of course, and still made in our Paris laboratory!
A jam that will work just as well in the morning on your toast as it will at mealtime with a cheese platter.
But what is blackcurrant pepper? It's a spice made from powdered blackcurrant buds.
The buds used in this way do not have the sweet taste of blackcurrants, but add a little “pepperiness” while retaining the slight acidity of the blackcurrant.
This spice, with its woody, floral notes, enhances the “round” taste of the (very) large pieces of figs for a unique, addictive recipe.
